Value is Important

The general overall strategy in DFS is to take full advantage of the players that have and hopefully will put up the most points in a lineup, however many of these players come with a hefty price tag. The salary cap nature of DFS makes all this the fundamental dilemma, or shall I say the fundamental advantage.

The Strategy

It is no secret that the DFS community is always looking for cheap value plays that will allow for the chalky players to fit into your lineup. We all want Christian McCaffery, Dalvin Cook and others in our lineup, but how do we get as many as we can?

We are coming off a week (10) where we saw a major pricing discrepancy on DraftKings for Carolina Panthers RB Mike Davis (DK $4000) which had every avid DFS player licking their chops. Why? With Christian McCaffery Out, Mike Davis would be the Lead RB and expected to have significant volume and opportunities at a dirt-cheap price tag.

No Brainer, right? Pictures speak a thousand words or $25,000 in this case.

So, the winning play this week was to fade Mike Davis, especially in tournaments, where we know 50% – 60% of all lineups would have him. If he smashes, he smashed for most, and if he fails, he fails for most.

Contrarian Value

Keeping this in the context of large field tournaments, sometimes the unpopular play is the best play and not all value is created equal.
