DFS Stacking

Why Stacking is important in Mass Multi Entry (MME) Tournaments on Draft Kings and FanDuel.

What is Stacking?

Stacking comes in many forms. Team Stacks, Game Stacks, Secondary Stacks, Bring Back Stacks and so on. As fans of football we know that when a team goes off, it is not one player, and often a QB and his receiving Corp can be found at the heart of a high scoring result. But stacking can also include the opponent especially in games where Vegas Over/Under is projected at +50 points.

Similarly, adding a secondary stack from a completely different game can further put your lineup in a position to produce top scoring results.

Stacking Composition

QB and at least 1 Pass Catcher is the most common form of stacking. Pass catchers include WR’s, TE’s and sometimes RB’s (i.e. Christian McCaffery). Double stacking will include 2 pass catchers. Rarely will you see a QB, WR and RB all produce at optimal levels.  The opposing teams pass catchers can also be included in your lineup which we refer to as a bring back stack.

You can also think of a stack as RB with his team’s defense. The thought process is if RB goes off, his team is ahead, and his teams defense is in a good position to produce points as well.

Check for yourself

A great way to fully understand the success of stacking it to review past winning lineups, and reverse engineer the stacking components. Not just the players, but also the game scripts and the Vegas odds. This will lead you to your own process that can be employed on a weekly basis. I say weekly because DFS is a Grind, and fortitude with a strong process is required.

After all the goal is to produce lineups that give you the opportunity to bring down a slate. Review your process to determine if you are producing lineups that come within the top 5% of all entrants.
